US geothermal electricity

Geothermal is small. That doesn’t tell a power buyer what it’s worth.

EIA’s preliminary 2025 figures put geothermal at 0.4% of US utility-scale generation. A small national share can still matter locally, but it cannot tell a buyer whether a new plant will deliver useful power at a worthwhile cost.
